All across America homes and businesses and turning to propane to power as a clean and renewable energy source. It’s green and economical… and can be used just about everywhere. Whether you use it for a small food truck business, home cooking or heating, or to power a forklift for your business, propane is your ideal choice.

Propane has a number of environmental benefits

If you’re environmentally-conscious you’ll be happy to know you’re helping the environment by using propane. While all gases do have some level of emissions, propane is low compared to the others. While it does release low levels of carbon dioxide, propane doesn’t emit sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide or methane. That’s why propane is listed as an approved clean energy source in the 1990 Clean Air Act.

Propane has a number of uses and is not harmful to the soil or to groundwater. Propane grills produce 50% less carbon dioxide than a charcoal grill. Compared to gasoline, propane emits 60% less carbon monoxide. And propane releases almost 100% less particulate matter than diesel. There’s a big reason why forklifts in most warehouses are powered by propane. In fact, propane is the World’s most common alternative vehicle fuel. And if propane spills or leaks, it becomes a harmless vapor.

The World’s #1 Green Energy

Propane’s is superior to electricity as far as environmental friendliness. Here in the United States, about 50 percent of all electricity is produced by burning coal. According to the Propane Education & Research Council, propane produces 43 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than an equivalent amount of electricity generated from the U.S. grid. Their research also shows that propane-fueled residential furnaces emit up to 50 percent fewer nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and 82 percent fewer sulfide oxide (SOx) emissions than electric furnaces.

And the Department of Energy tells us propane emits far less carbon monoxide per million BTUs of energy than gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, and coal. Other ways in which propane is environmentally friendly:

  • Propane dissipates quickly and is not an air pollutant
  • Lower carbon dioxide emissions
  • Transporting propane is safer than transporting other fuels
  • Reduced environmental impact in the case of a spill or leak
