A properly taken underground propane tank can last up to 20 or 30 years. All it takes is a few simple checks and some basic preventative work. When buying a new home, or taking possession of a new tank, it’s a good idea to check it’s history. And remember, you’ll need to recertify your tank every so often. If you have any doubts, this article tells you how to check if it’s expired.

If it’s an above ground tank, you should clean it up a bit. Remove any rust and you might want to give it a fresh paint job. To remove rust, use a wire brush and scrub the affected areas. If you’re painting the tank use a heat reflective color. A dark color absorbs heat and can expand the gas, and that could be a potential safety hazard. Check the valve on it and verify the last time it was certified. You’ll want to make sure it still have some life on it.

You’ll also want to know where your gas lines are buried underground. Make sure to ask before purchasing your new home.

Propane is a Great for the Indoor Use

If you’re buying a new home, you’ll want to know what appliances run on propane. Outside of a heating system, propane can can also fuel stovetops, grills, fireplaces, generators and washer/dryer units.

If you have an electric stovetop, you can switch over to propane to save money, and now might be the time to make that happen. Gas lines will need to be added so the propane can run from the tank outside to the appliance in the kitchen inside. We’re happy to service new homeowners who are passionate about the opportunities that come with living in an environmentally green propane home.

Denise wrote in to tell her city about us during the recent storm, when nobody else would deliver. She said:

“I spoke with Mr. John Oliver – the founder and owner of Oliver Propane within the past thirty minutes (after making an email enquiry at 11:15PM last night – oh, he replied then) and I will be receiving a delivery from his firm.”

Jen, was also happy we came through in the storm.

“I just wanted to let you know that after we finally got home from our extended stay in California during the crazy storm, Danny came to our house with propane. We were able to wash and dry clothes and have heat last night. He is such a knowledgeable and personable man, and I think you’re quite lucky to have him as an employee. Our tank is probably half full now, but we’re ready to switch over to your company.”

And Laura loves our service. She wrote in to me us:

“Thank you thank you thank you for stopping by today!!!!! We appreciate you!!!”
